Artist Statement:
 
In my creative process I focus on finding balance.  Working with color pencils I play with the balance between precise control and expressive release.  Instead of attempting to draw exactly what I see, I try to translate what I feel, inviting all the senses to play a part.  In developing a composition I try to harmonize the gravity of certain small points of emphasis with the more massive elements, and create pathways for the eye to flow around the piece.  I spend some time drawing, and I spend some time just feeling.  Eons of interactions are at play in the landscape, and the clouds dance freely overhead, yet only a moment in time is captured on the paper.  And that moment is all bathed in glorious golden sunlight.
 
Henry graduated with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts with an emphasis on abstract painting in 2014 from Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas.  He has lived in Moab since 2017.
